Use these notes in a support message

What you expected to happen
What actually happened, with any exact error wording
When it started and anything that changed just before
Which device, operating system and browser or app is involved
Whether other people or devices are affected
What you have already tried
How urgent it is for your work, in your own words
Confirm you will not send any passwords by email

Support questions

Do I need to choose a service for an IT question?

No. Choose “IT support” on the form and leave the service boxes empty.

Can you connect to my computer remotely?

Only if we both agree, at a time you choose, using a method you are comfortable with.

Is this an emergency line?

No. For anything involving safety or crime, contact the appropriate emergency services.
